Description
Insula line designed by Luca Scacchetti is a modular custom-made sofa is produced by assembling the various available elements: six seating platforms; five backs and arms; and four back cushions—each of a different dimension.
Insula 176 x 220 sofa is only one of the possible compositions that can be created.
The sofa is created on a wide base sized 176 x 220 cm. Two backrests partially are in the middle of the seat.
The platform frame consists of two poplar heartwood panels fixed together. The lower panel is covered with saddle leather on its visible surfaces; internally, it bears elastic polypropylene and natural latex belts of 5 cm wide at 80% elasticity, perpendicularly interlaced, guaranteeing the seat webbing’s
sturdiness. On the upper panel is glued a sheet of resilient, CFC-free polyurethane foam (density 35 kg/m³) covered with polyester wadding and leather. The back frame is made of black melamine-coated panel upholstered with contoured sheets of resilient, CFC-free polyurethane foam (density 40kg/m³) covered with polyester wadding.
On this frame are fixed steel bars used to hook the back to the lower panel of the platform. The removable back cushions, with fine raised stitching on the covers, are completely feather filled in separate units.
The supports are composed by a steel tube and plate, varnished with silver epoxy powder paint.
The sofa is completely covered with a beautiful high quality leather available in many colours. For full details please consult the “available material and colours” section. On demand it’s also available in numerous fabrics.
